The Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court is responsible for maintaining a record of all traffic, civil, and criminal cases filed and heard in Jersey County. On a daily basis, the office interacts with the public and attorneys performing several functions including the collection and disbursement of traffic fines, civil fees, and child support. The office is also responsible for recording filed documents and maintaining a record of all court proceedings.

Appearances shall be limited to attorneys and parties only. Any cases wherein an attorney can appear for a client while accomplishing a productive hearing shall be so held. The court is following health and safety protocols set by the Illinois Supreme Court and state and local health departments.
The Office of the Circuit Clerk is available to take payments by mail, online, or an after-hours drop-box by the Courthouse door. Please call our office for further information.
ATTENTION: Cell phones are now permitted in the Courthouse. However, I am asking you to please silence all notification ALARMS. Please keep all distractions out of the courtroom. Thank you for your cooperation.

A message from Jersey County Circuit Clerk Daniel P. Schetter…
As Circuit Clerk I know when you come in it is not the high point in your life. However, I would ask of you to be courteous to all our staff. We strive to assist all persons to the fullest extent legally possible. To that end, we request that you refrain from raising your voice or cursing in the clerk’s offices.
Additionally, appropriate clothing is required in the courtroom. No pajamas, clothing with inappropriate language, or clothing that is too baggy, too tight, or too short. You may not wear a hat in the courtroom. Litigants who arrive for court wearing inappropriate clothing may be asked to leave. No purses or backpacks are allowed. Phones are also not permitted unless you receive pre-approval from the court/court security.
